Yes, probably the last post.
If ever I write on JUIT again, there’s a high probability that it may be found at the links given below.
It was fun writing for this blog. Thanks to all who ever read/commented here.
Stay happy.

Sharing a midnight maggi with your friends is the trademark of college life. Here are few steps how we go about it:
[Time - 1 AM]
(Aman enters my room)
Aman: yaar maggi padi hai?
Adi: Ek hai, mera to mood nahi hai, tujhe chahiye to le le
Aman: Chhod yaar, kettle dhoni padegi.. subah breakfast hi kar lunga
Adi: Thik hai, chhod..
[Time - 2 AM]
(Adi enters Aman’s room)
Adi: Yaar bhookh lagi hai
Aman: Yaar bookh to mujhe bhi lagi hai, bana hi lete hain
Adi: Achcha main banaunga, tu kettle dhoyega..
Aman: Chal done, lekin pani nahi hai room pe, tu bhar ke layega..
Adi: Naii…saale main banaun bhi.. aur pani bhi bharke laaung… bhag!!
Aman: Achcha main le aaunga.. chal thik hai tere room pe banate hain
[Time 2:30 AM]
I’ve just finished making maggi and we are about to start. Suddenly Shivam(my roommate) enters the room:
Shivam: Oyee… magggiii… hum bhi khayenge..
Adi n Aman(in unison) - Hurrrrr…
Shivam: Achchaa ek bite to de dena yaar, badi bhookh lag rhi hai.. Adi ek aur maggi padi hai kya?
Adi: Nhi ye last thhi..chal ek bite le liyo
Aman: Hurrr.. last time is saale ne kettle nhi dhoyi thhi..
….
…
..
.
Aman is given a newspaper, because he is infamous for ‘always’ spilling/spoiling my room(his past achievements include spilling a glass full of coffee, a bowl full of sugar, maggi on innumerable accounts, biscuits, breads, mathri-achaar et cetera).
Finally we devour on yummy maggi and Shivam also gets one(or two) bites.
Epilogue: Shivam manages to get one maggi from the hostel, makes it -> Aadii gets a bite while Aman is left looking in desperation
1. Discipline
wearing the silly mundane uniform everyday
we hustle to lectures, labs and tutes
just to get thrown out of the class
and then brooding over ’short attendence’
with a nescafe coffee in our hands
staring blankly at the imperceptible paintings of tuck shop
we condemn everything that exists on earth,
or atleast on JUIT.
2. Internet
Slow Speeds
Limited data transfer limits
Constrained timings
Blocked sites
Thats the JUIT Internet for you.
3. Mess Food
Same menu
same food
becomes boring after sometime
4. Wearisome Weakends
With no bigger city around
one has no choice other than Shimla
Its beautiful yes, but
going to Shimla by local bus isn’t
Yuck! HRTC buses
you dont’ get seats
plus the hell of a driving on such roads
and the return timings of 7
I mean what the F
Definitely forgettable !
5. Faculty Factor
with too much power with the faculty
messing with your grades is easy
threat for you, treat for them
more than their personal life they are interested in your personal life
Beep Beep Beep
That’s it.
Ujjwal Sir: ”Excellent work!!
Bt i m sure u will miss all these….when u leave JUIT!!
Even i used to dislike these stuff, bt…..its was a part of lyf called JUIT, which u wont get after quitting JUIT !!
“
Himanshu Sir: “I like that… they are really true. But you know what, you just made me Nostalgic. Whatever you have written over there, you will find yourself craving for them as well… trust me on that Mate.
“
There’s this new Dhaba called ‘Apki Rasoi’ which just got opened 2 days back, is creating lots of buzz among students(apart from IPL 09). The best thing about ‘Apki Rasoi’ is that it is open for girls also(till 10PM) and 24 hours for boys. Its cheap, though maggi is not providing its full money value(at 20 Rs). Parathas are OK. Chai is awesome.
Students are of course excited about the fact that it is open 24 hours. One more thing which I noticed is that, it had Coke and Fanta, which comes as good news because we only get Pepsi products at Cafe and Tuck.
As always, at the cost of sounding like a news reporter – I’ve shared this news with you all. Don’t Worry Kids, Be Happy, Daddy is here.. Somehow!!!

No matter how rhythm divine am I,
Do I need to know technology,
To be your Odd- Ad winner?
If yes, then what?

With musical-de-courte and Tambola,
Kitty party game for kids and their aunty,
To keep each other busy.

How to cut copy and paste.

Or right price but no deal.
Love has to be done actually,
If you are getting gorgeous.

Welcome Mr. photographer to be an artist of Monalisa.

When they listen to saga of USB and pendrive,
Of having crush on each other,
Mobile gadget singing Sa re ga ma pa,
To the approximation of science.

LOCUS REDIFENED
Thanks Lefiestus 2K9.

Le Fiestus 2009 – the annual techno-cultural festival of JUIT was organized from 10-12 April 2009.
With vairous events, food stalls, ibibo quiz and rockathon, KK Live-in-concert, DJ Nights and many more things, it was a memorable experience for all of us.
(Taken from the Le Fiestus Website)
Over the past years, LE-FIESTUS has established a name for itself, as the place to be in, just by the virtue of the quality of events and the poise with which they are held. The tastefully decorated halls and lawns, the pepped up chords and the artistic hues add a zing to the milieu. The festival will be an extravaganza of magnitude composed of talent shows, numerous guest speakers, cultural booths, and many others. It will be extensive and enlightening for both the youth and the mature. And then not to miss the spate of inter – collegiate shows or dance competitions organized by various clubs which has every college vying for the crown! The festival boasts of similar calendar of events – debates, fashion show, Choreography, Music, Creatives, Ad-Mad and simply-not-to-be-missed rock show or a performance by an eminnent artiste to top it up!

Usually Month of March acts as the change between the chilly winters and pleasant HP summers in JUIT. But about a week ago, much to the delight of ever raging rain gods, rains poured the state. And JUIT is once again caught in the cold waves – which hills are (in)famous for.
We, the students are finding it hard to study under such romantic sceneries all around. With clouds coming again in our rooms – as they do in July/August – we have one more reason for NOT studying. The reason I’m stressing about (not)studying so much is that, we have our mid term exams just 3 days from now
Anyways, it does not make any difference. At least to the breed of students that we people have become. For some folks, yes its high time!
Mughal Gardens are situated behind the academic block. Once a hot spot LP for – you know who and what;) – (pardon my symbolic language and silly metaphors!), they have now become more or less like regular gardens.
Students flood them during any event. Badminton Court and Basketball Court are also adjacent to them, which are of course the hot spots for sport freaks. Right on top-most point of gardens, stands in its full glory – the ‘Orange Shed’, surrounded by Cone trees which incidentally are the chief inhabitant of these gardens.
Oh, I forgot I cannot end this small teeny weeny article abruptly. So here’s the heavyweight ending – “There are certain things we JUITians are proud of, Mughals! are certainly one of them.”

1. Location: JUIT is located among the lush green picturesque hills of Himachal Pradesh. In fact this is the first thing people notice when they come here. Peaceful environment and breathtaking views offer an experience of a lifetime.
2. The Junta: Students are the most important asset of an university. JUIT is no different. Its students who are from all parts of the country(even outside the country too!) are one of the main reasons behind JUIT’s continuous growth.
3. Administration: No matter how much we curse our administration for never being ‘good enough’ – ultimately it is the administration which runs the university. JUIT administration – though being very stiff at times – is doing a wonderful job. The rate at which JUIT is progressing, will surely make it top 10 universities of the country within a decade or so.
4. Placements: Placements at JUIT have been very good so far with 75-80% of students getting placed every year. Students can have multiple placements here – which makes the placement percentage to 200-300%. In today’s scenario, despite the global recession almost all the companies will be coming to the campus.
5. Infrastructure: With Jaypee group’s backing, JUIT has world class infrastructure. Its Biotech labs are said to be the best in the country. Architecture is top notch with central heating system along with LAN, internet, laundry and fooding facilities.

The ONE big question, administration needs to answer is -
Why do we not have 24 hour internet access?
We’ve 4mb(or so) internet line as of now, in comparison with 50mb+ lines of IITs, NITs and IIITs. Moreover, there’s 30mb data transfer limit. Banning pornography is understandable but banning websites like Orkut – how can one justify that. Even if students waste time on social networking websites, then this much independence they need to have. Forcing such measures does not serve the purpose. Students somehow – by using proxy filters – can surf the net in whatever manner they want. Institutions like MIT, Stanford, Berkeley does not have any such bans. They provide 24 hour high speed internet to their students. A student learns much more through other means like these than in a classroom. There are students who are earning thousands of bucks by blogging and making softwares online. If JUIT has a vision to be among the elite institutions of the country(and world!) then it has to look beyond conventional Indian mindsets!
Things that need to be done in this regard
1. 24 hour internet to students with no ban at all.
2. No data transfer limit.
3. Higher speed.
4. Softwares like DC++, yahoo messenger should not be banned.
Administration may justify(though dictators don’t justify!) by saying that students will not study then, they’ll waste their time on internet, they won’t attend any classes, their placements will suffer .. blah blah blah! These points may seem alright at first, but what we Indians don’t understand is that we often try to curb the problems by suppressing them. Suppressing something will only encourage people.
For example, students who did not have a profile on orkut, upon coming to JUIT make one by using proxy websites. They then see everyone glued to their monitors every evening scrapping each other. This is the mentality of suppression! Now have a look at this similar thing in IIIT Allahabad. There they do not have any ban. People have 24 hour (very) high speed internet. There they access orkut – but are not obsessed by it(as in JUIT). They watch TV channels, Youtube videos online. Do everything, yet there does not seem to be any fixation at all. And yes, they all do well in their studies too!
There are so many institutions mushrooming today in the country. Excellence is what sets them apart. Only a handful of them are destined to be the best. JUIT’s destiny will be written by its students, professors and administration – together. May everyone have strength and wisdom to be honest to their duties.
